OH, What a Night!

Yesterday we started the new year with a bang! The ILWU Local 23 hosted our January General Meeting at their hall. The sold-out crowd enjoyed a delicious pasta dinner, and the Auxiliary 35 ladies outdid themselves with tablescapes and scrumptious desserts!

The audience was diverse, from council members and commissioners to labor leaders and union workers. We were honored to have Robert "Bobby" Olvera, Jr., President of the ILWU, as our Keynote Speaker. He talked about the maritime industry also being diverse, and how he intends to bring the ILWU to the forefront again, boost communication to the ranks as his predecessors started, and help build our industry back up to what it once was.
